Welcome to Colchester and Tendring Youth Enquiry Service
y.e.s. provides a confidential, non-judgemental and informal service for young people between the ages of 11 and 25 within Colchester and Tendring, who are facing difficulties in their lives.
If you are facing homelessness and need housing advice, if you are having family problems, if you are feeling low, depressed or suicidal, if you need advice about debts or would like to check you are claiming all the benefits you are entitled to, if you are teenager and are pregnant, if you are a young family who needs support, or if you need a CV, training or work advice, then y.e.s. can help you.
y.e.s. can provide help and support with many problems that you may be experiencing – and if we can’t help you ourselves then we will find someone who can, and will support you in getting that help.
EARLY HELP SUPPORT/FAMILY INNOVATION
The Essex Family Innovation Fund (FIF) has been a huge success with in excess of 10,000 referrals since 2015 and at The Colchester & Tendring Youth Enquiry Service we have accepted 400 of those counselling referrals for 11-25 year olds and around 200 for 6-10 year olds. The demand has now become greater than the funding enables us to provide.
We need to manage our waiting lists appropriately and the Essex County Council Commissioner has agreed to us temporarily stopping taking new referrals. This is to prevent a long waiting list which then only serves to delay support for those who need early help and might be able to access this through other community provision. Please note that our Family Mediation service is still open to new referrals.
We expect to reopen our books at the end of October but will let you know if there is any change. In the meantime we would ask you to consider;
1. If everything within your own organisation been done
2. Is the request for support the right one or could an alternative Family Innovation Fund service deliver the same outcome for the referral
3. If there another community organisation that might be appropriate?
